Job summary
1302 Hair Design, established in 2010, is a modern hair salon offering all aspects of hairdressing including both traditional and modern techniques. We specialise in colour and colour correction and are a very busy salon at all times. The perfect candidate for this role will have a minimum experience of working the floor for 2 years as a qualified stylist, be qualified to at least level 3 and have a broad understanding of all modern colour applications.

Responsibilities and duties
Running a back-to-back column, whilst ensuring that all clients expectations are met. We carry out a lot of colour work here and colour correction so a deep understanding of the correct colour choice and application as well as what it right for each client and each situation is paramount. Liaising with reception to make sure that your clients booking times are correct and maximising your efficiency is important here as we are generally booking months ahead, so it is paramount that when your client is in, the time spent, and the service given is perfect.
This role can be demanding at times due to how many clients we cater for and the fast pace that we operate at some times. Every day can bring something new, and it is important that the candidate can be adaptive, reliable, consistent, organised, a good multitasker and above all be able to remain calm under pressure. Far too often a stylist’s role can be underestimated, however it is an extremely important role and the key to being effective at it is good time management and an approachable friendly outlook.
The candidate will liaise with the receptionist and salon supervisor daily as well as communicating with the salon director. Our reputation as being an all-inclusive salon is extremely valuable to us and any stylist in this role must be aware of this and make all clients visit enjoyable.
Qualifications and skills
Qualified to a minimum of level 3, have a minimum of 2 years working a column as a qualified stylist.
Be experienced in all colour applications, especially balayage.
An understanding of colour correction.
Having the confidence to tell a client what you need to and not necessarily what they want to hear when required.
An ability to work under pressure and remain calm.
Be friendly, understanding and approachable to clients and colleagues.
To be able to contribute to the salon atmosphere, sharing your skills and opinions with your colleagues and having the patience to work with the apprentices.
Good communication, multi-tasking, good social skills, good organisational skills, problem solving, being empathetic to your clients. The list goes on; however, any good stylist will know this already.
As well as all this the candidate must have a high standard of personal presentation, excellent verbal skills, a good telephone manner, good customer service skills and above all patience and tact when required.
Salary and benefits
The salary is negotiable on experience and will be assessed after an initial trial period. Successful candidates can expect between £20750 – £25000+ pa.

Apprentice hairdresser / Stylist

The chosen candidate for this position will assist other stylists with their clients as well as working towards their own qualification in hairdressing. It will consist of 1 day a week at college and 4 days working in the salon.

To assist the stylists with their clients, including gowning -up, shampoo & conditioning treatments, making colour, meeting & greeting clients, general housekeeping, making and serving hot and cold drinks as well as other tasks.
This role can be demanding at times due to dealing with the public and the fast pace that we operate at some times. Every day can bring something new, and it is important that the candidate can be adaptive, reliable, consistent, organised, a good multitasker and above all be able to remain calm under pressure. An apprentice’s role can be underestimated, however it is a very important role and the key to being effective at it is to be keen, interested, be able to accept constructive criticism and be open to learning new tasks and different ways of doing them.
Qualifications and skills
Although there are no formal qualifications required it is important that a general understanding of maths is in place. This role demands someone that is able to learn and remember each new task that is shown. An outgoing personality who can communicate clearly and confidently, being able to work on ones own initiative as well as part of a team is required. Tenacity, reliability, good social skills, consistency and being able to work under pressure are some of the more important skills required to work in a busy hair salon.
As well as these important skills it is paramount that the candidate has a high standard of personal presentation, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a good telephone manner as well as patience and tact when required.
